Facebook Dating Feature has Gone Live in 20 Countries.
Facebook dating feature has rolled out in the United States this Thursday. After testing it nearly for a year in Colombia. Finally, they released it on Thursday. This feature is available for users who are 18 and above. People can create their dating profile and can link their FB and Instagram to that profile. Users can add their stuff from FB and Instagram to dating profile but stuff that is posted on dating profile won’t be shown on general FB and Instagram profiles.
The company says that Facebook dating will suggest you profiles based on the preferences you express when you create your profile, along with your interests and Facebook activity. This can suggest profiles from friends of friends or even from outside the friend circle. You won’t see your Facebook and Instagram friends until you use the secret crush feature. With this feature, you can mark any of your friends as secret crush and if the other person also marked your profile then its a match. But this feature is limited to nine profiles only i.e, you can choose only nine profiles from both FB and Instagram.
“Facebook dating is free, no ads and in-app purchases. It is all about conversations” says the Facebook. Since it uses your FB activity to suggest profiles. If two persons are attending the same event or members of the same group then they will get each other profiles in suggestions. They also said that in the near future, you will be able to add ephemeral stories to your dating profile.
They also introduced a safety feature to protect users safety. By taping the shield icon you can share your upcoming date details and temporary live location with friends or family using facebook messenger. This will help your friends keep an eye on you when meeting a new person.
Right now Facebook dating is available in 20 countries they are United States, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, and Vietnam.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, while announcing the plan last year. He said that one out of three marriages in the United States start online. And he also mentioned that they identified that nearly 200 million Facebook users are being single. Along with these advantages, Facebook dating has one more advantage i.e, the users can directly use the pictures from their Fb and Instagram accounts.
